*The Education Foundation - Teacher Tribute - a great way to give thanks! *

This is a great time of year to give thanks and praise any of the wonderful
teachers, administrators, bus drivers, nurses, parent volunteers or staff
of the schools in the district!

The Education Foundation Teacher Tribute Program is a wonderful way to give
thanks. You can make a donation thru our website (
*http://www.ucfef.org/teachertribute.html*<http://www.ucfef.org/teachertribute.html>).
For now, the suggested donation per "Teacher Tribute" name is $10 - but we
would be happy to accept any amount of course - and we encourage you to
thank as many people who positively affect the life of your children as you
can.

We will make sure to post your tribute on this page for the year, and send
a note to the teacher(s) or staff that have been recognized, as well as to
their principals. As the project unfolds, we would like to turn these
Teacher Tributes into a Giving Tree Mosaic...but for now the Giving Tree
will remain on this *webpage* <http://www.ucfef.org/teachertribute.html>!
For now, the suggested donation per "Teacher Tribute" name is $10 - but we

Dear UE Families:

We are looking for 1 volunteer from each grade to help run the mileage club
a recess program. This will take about 10 minutes, 1 day a week and the
same weekday each week. The mileage club is a classroom "race" against all
the Buddy Class's in the school to see what class can make it across the
United States first. It is going to be a fun school wide competition!!

Students will wear a pedometer during recess 1 day a week, that will
measure the number of steps they took during recess. After recess they will
write down their steps on a poster hanging up in their classroom. We need
one volunteer from each grade to add up all the steps the students took for
each classroom during recess. This volunteer will then enter the total
classroom steps into a shared spreadsheet online.

There will be a bulletin board in the school that will have a map of the
United States and all of the buddy classes will be on it. Each week the
class step totals will be converted into miles and the bulletin board will
be updated to show the race across the US.

The race across the US is going to be a lot of fun and will encourage all
the students in the school to be more active during recess. We are looking
for 1 person for each grade to spend 10 minutes 1 day a week to add up the
total steps for each class in the grade and enter it into an online
spreadsheet.

Thank You for considering this volunteer opportunity. Please contact Lauren
Falini at Lauren.Falini@nemours.org to volunteer.

Birthday Box Program

What is the Birthday Box Program?

Has your child ever received a birthday party invitation and instead of
sharing your child's excitement, you are wondering if you can afford a
present? The goal of the Birthday Box Program is to help take away that
worry by providing an age appropriate gift that your child can give to the
birthday boy/girl. There is no financial obligation to you. The mission
of the program is to help all our students maintain important social
connections with their peers, like attending a birthday party, without
placing a financial burden on the family.

How it works?

A child alerts their teacher that they have to go to the nurse's office. Mrs.
Fulginiti will have the Birthday Box in her office. This box is filled
with all different kinds of toys and games including the wrapping paper. She
will help the student pick out an appropriate gift and help wrap it. The
student then will pick up the present at the end of the day. It will be
placed in a non-descript bag to maintain complete privacy.

This program is available to any of our school's families with financial
need and is provided at no charge.

The catalog has something for everyone - duffel bags, totes, storage bags,

Committee Chairperson Needed!
Dear UE families
The UEPTO is in need of someone to take over the job of running our
passive fundraising activities such as the Giant, Superfresh, Target and
Escrips programs.
This position can be worked on at home so it is great for anyone with a
little extra time to give to UE.
A full transition of the position will take place so you will be fully
trained on what is needed.
If you are new to UE or someone looking to get more involved, this is a
great position to take on as a way to volunteer.
Thank you so much for considering chairing this committee so UE continues
to receive the benefit of these money making programs!
Please contact Kim Lauder with questions or to volunteer to take on the
position. kimlauder@verizon.net
no packaging and no uneaten food. We're even targeting recyclables. So,
for one day, try putting away the single-serving items and baggies, and
dig out the Tupperware & Rubbermaid from the back of the cabinet. Then
find out and pack what your kids will actually eat, and you're on your way.
While the district food service is focusing on the elementary schools to
start, students at the middle and high schools are invited to go TRASHLESS
on Tuesday as well, in the spirit of solidarity with the district.

Who says being green can't be fun? If your kids are like most kids, they
like (ok, love!) video games. So why not give them a game that can teach
