PTO Committee Chairs Needed for the 2014-2015 School Year

Looking for a way to become involved at UE? Please consider becoming a
committee chair for the next year! It is a very rewarding experience! Thank
you so much for your consideration.

The committee chair openings with the highest priority and that absolutely
need to be filled include:

• *Art In Action*- One or two chairs needed to run winter Art In action
project across all grades. Art projects involves working with students on
both teaching and hands on component of the project with assistance from
parent volunteers and art teacher.

• *3rd Grade Read-a-thon- *Need 1 more chair to plan and implement
3rdgrade Read-a-thon. Time commitment mostly in the beginning of the
leading up to the big event in March. Two chairs in place already.

• *Partners Program/UES Shirts-* One or two co- chairs needed to match
new UE Families with existing UE families to provide a resource for any
questions incoming families may have. Distribution of UE shirts and
coordination of one or two social events for new families. Time commitment
is before and shortly after school begins.

*UE's annual Coin Drive is this week, May 12th-16th. Please remember to
send in your spare change. *

*The money collected will be used to provide meals for the homeless and
needy families in our area. Collection buckets will be in each classroom,
and our third graders will be sorting and counting all coins. Thank you for
all your support. Unionville Elementary is so generous!*

The Spring Book Fair is this week on Wednesday May 14 – Friday May 17!
Please keep an eye out for the flyer that came home with your child
regarding the book fair.

The theme is "Fiesta" and there will be a wide variety of books for all
ages, from picture books to chapter books to reference books. Parents can
use the book fair to buy books for summer reading and end of year teacher

Families can shop on Thursday and Friday from 9am – 2pm as well as during
the Open House on Thursday, May 15th. This is one of UE's top fundraisers
so please come out and support us!

To all 5th Grade Parents:

Please consider getting involved in the Patton PTO next year! It is a great
way to meet others and also to see what is going on at the middle school.
Committee positions available include: Staff Appreciation Luncheon, Staff
Appreciation Brunch, Community Service, Volunteers, Box Tops, and Raffle
Baskets (for the Patton Spring Carnival). For more information, please

Help Combat Bullying: May 7th

One of the nation's top school bullying experts, who notes that school
bullying doesn't just harm victims, will bring his powerful message to
students and parents.

Nationally-known lecturer and author Brooks Gibbs will appear at two
sessions, May 7 at 7 p.m. for parents, and the next day, in school, for
students. Brooks' appearance is being funded by a grant by the
Unionville-Chadds Ford Education Foundation
