and Liz Hunt for putting on a fun outside party for New Family Pizza Night. It was a great opportunity to get to know some of our new parents and their wonderful kids. A fun time was had by all.

We are incredibly excited to give everyone the good news about the Boosterthon. It was a huge success!! The PTO raised over $16,000 for the school!! This money will all go back to our kids and school in the form of assemblies, equipment, and tools our teachers can use to enhance our kids scholastic experience. Mr. Beaver and the teachers were very pleased with the staff of the Boosterthon. They kept our kids excited about raising money for the school while learning important and life-long character lessons daily. We look forward to working with the Boosterthon team again in the future.

Our Fall Picture day will be October 7Th. Our schools will be closed on the 13TH. Enjoy your day off!

Please join us for our very first Family Fun Night at the Marlborough Valley Corn Maze on October 16Th starting at 6:30. RSVPs are due October 10Th. Soft pretzels, hot cocoa, and local apple cider will be provided. Please see the UEPTO website for more info. The PTO will be collecting coats, hats, gloves, etc. that evening for the Annual UCFSD Coat Drive. We hope to see you all there.

Mark your calendars! We have UE night at the Liberty Marketplace in Kennett on Thursday October 23. Come and enjoy a cooking free night with dinner, wine, and dessert. A portion of the proceeds that evening will go directly to the PTO. We are looking forward to seeing you there.

Remember to join us for the PTO meeting on October 24Th. Dr Sanville will be joining us to discuss the possible redistricting of our district. Please come to this very informative meeting.

Our Halloween Parade will be at 2:15 this year on Halloween. A quick reminder about parking at UE. Please squeeze in between the lines to fit as many cars as possible in the front lot and visitors parking spots. Mr. Beaver would like to make sure that all cars are removed from FRONT lot by 3 pm for the busses to safely maneuver.

It sounds like a very busy month of October. Enjoy the nice weather!

 Amy Kidd-Suplick and Michelle Reichert

ART IN ACTION

Each year students at Unionville Elementary contribute to a community art project that is then displayed in the halls of our school. The Art in Action program is made possible by local artist Lele Galer, who visits all Unionville elementary schools each year to teach parent volunteers about the year's theme for the Art in Action project. This year's theme will be portraits. For those parents interested in volunteering to help with the Art in Action project this year, a presentation and information session will be held on October 6Th at 9:15 in the SGI at UE. Please RSVP to Kim Collison at kimcollison@verizon.net if you will attend. If you are interested in volunteering and are unable to attend this session, please contact Kim for information on sessions available at other UCFSD elementary schools.

The SignUpGenius is available for those parents who know they wish to volunteer to lead a classroom discussion. The classroom discussions will be held October 10Th through October 17Th in each class's art class period. CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP

Players will be divided by age group and will go thru various skills and drills sessions during the 3 hour period.  The clinic will culminate with a King of the Can tournament! Registration Form is here  and should be emailed/mailed per the instructions on the form. Come and join us and brush up on your skills before it gets too cold to be on the field!

NOPE is a prevention program that is offered to middle and high school students. The presentations are purposefully blunt and evoke powerful emotions. The response from students, parents and teachers has been very positive. Many students seek guidance after the presentation for themselves or to get help for their friends. Consistent positive findings show that the presentations given in each of these participant groups have had significant impact on the knowledge and attitudes of those exposed to the NOPE program.
