December PTO Presidents' Letter
We hope that you are braving the cold weather well. We can't believe that winter break is right around the corner!
Together with the PTO Board, we would like to acknowledge those who volunteered their time over the past few months to bring wonderful programs to our school. Thank you to Holly Friedman and Susannah Small for heading a successful Fall Book Fair. We appreciate the hard work of Rose Peters for leading another successful Breakfast With a Buddy. The kids were treated to one of the best Family Fun Nights in UE history thanks to Jenny Moyer and Liz Hunt. They introduced a fun new outing to the local corn maze for a family hayride. Our UE families had a great time while enjoying snacks and hot chocolate. We hope to make this an annual tradition. Mr. Beaver and the staff would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Karen Miller and her committee for the Veteran's Day Celebration. The veterans were so appreciative and the students learned a lot from the veterans' experiences. In December the children attended an assembly (courtesy of UEPTO) entitled Holidays Around the World. The children learned about the traditions and customs that other countries have to celebrate the holidays. The Elves Workshop was a huge success thanks to Shannon Bellafiore. The children enjoyed the opportunity to make crafts for family and friends. Looking ahead to 2015, we are excited to announce that the UEPTO is sponsoring an exciting new after school program. Bricks For Kids is a Lego building club in which kids create something new each week. Parents will have the choice of either Wednesday or Friday afternoons. Details to sign up went home this week. Also in the new year, make plans to attend one of Scott Duggan's "Star University" presentations. Scott Duggan educates parents on new technology and how to safely allow children to navigate and use various programs and apps. Please join us for the next installment coming in January 2015. We wish everyone a Happy and Healthy Holiday! Amy Kidd-Suplick and Michelle Reichert PTO Co-Presidents
The Winter Holiday Food Collection was a huge success!
This community outreach program was sponsored by the UEPTO. Each grade was asked to donate a specific food item. Our UE school families demonstrated overwhelming generosity! As a result, we were able to give 21 area families the gift of a holiday feast complete with grocery bags overflowing with goodies.
