What Clubs Are You Looking For?

While we offer many after-school clubs here at UE, we would like to hear what you think we are missing. Would you like to see yoga? Homework club? Sign language? L:et us know is we do not currently offer something you would like to see, and we will look into bringing it to UE.

Coin Drive for Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service

 "Calling all Quarters!

Calling all Dimes!

All Nickels and Pennies!

It's helping out time!"

Calling all UE Stars! This January, our school will be taking part in the Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service in a new way. All of our UE kids are invited to participate in our project: "Blankets for Buddies." The students will be coming together to make special fleece blankets that will be donated to kids with long term illnesses at AI Dupont Hospital. But first, we need to raise some "coin" to purchase the materials we will use to make the blankets. So we're having a coin drive contest amongst the classes! There will be three collection periods, and at the end of each, there's a cool prize for the class that has collected the most coins. Please see the flyer that came home with your student for all the details and start sending in those quarters, dimes, nickels and pennies!

Any parents with questions or a desire to pitch in, please contact Micki Tilley or Jackie Knight.

Stars for Service -- Community Service Club

Kids learn that EVERY child can make a difference when they participate in UE Stars for Service – a service club at UE for ALL 3rd, 4th and 5th graders.

This year, among other student chosen projects, the UE Stars for Service will run the UE Holiday Food Drive that benefits the Kennett Food Cupboard, create holiday decorations for the Pocopson Home and the Kennett Senior Center, and participate in the district-wide Winter Clothes Drive. In the Fall & Spring, UE Stars will help establish and maintain our school's new food garden, providing fresh produce to the local community in partnership with the Chester County Food Bank.  From last year's food garden we donated over 41 pounds of fresh veggies!

"We Rise by Lifting Others"

Encourage your children to donate their time for the good of their community!

UE Stars will hold monthly meetings, at school, on the first Monday of each month from 3:30 to 4:30. Additional meetings may be scheduled for projects as needed.

Please mark your calendars for the following dates:
November 7, December 5, February 6, March 6, April 3, May 1.

To have your child participate, please print the form at the link below and send it back to school with your child as soon as possible. Mark envelope: Stars for Service.
