Veterans Day Celebration - Volunteers Needed

UE will celebrate Veterans Day on Friday, November 11 from 9:30-10:30 a.m. As is tradition, we will have a ceremony in the Auditorium honoring not only family members, but all who have served or are currently serving in the Armed Forces. A reception and luncheon will also be a part of the program. In addition, veteran family members or friends of students in Kindergarten, Pre-first, First and Second grades are invited to visit the classroom.

To help make this event a success, we need volunteers to donate food and help with set-up and clean-up. Please click the link below to sign up:

Comedy Night - Tickets Still Available

UE's 2nd Annual Comedy Night will be this Friday, November 11 at 7:00 p.m. at Northbrook Marketplace. Join us for a fun evening featuring Philly's improvisational comedy troupe, Better Than Bacon. Any last-minute takers, please send in the form that came home via backpacks or contact Dana Mayer.

Martin Luther King, Jr. Service Project: Coin Drive Update

The coins have been counted and, boy, did we raise a lot of money for our MLK Day of Service Project! Our UE students raised a grand total of $2,523.61!!! WOW! We cannot thank our families enough for making the coin drive such a huge success. And without further ado, the classes that raised the most coin were...

     3.   Ms. Lane's 4th grade class - $206.41

     2.   Mr. Peirce's 3rd grade class - $230.35

1. Ms. Johnson's 5th grade class - $393.56

Ms. Johnson's class will be receiving the grand prize pizza party, and Mr. Peirce's and Ms. Lane's classes will be enjoying popsicles to celebrate their achievements!

Special thanks to Mr. Peirce and Jackie and Brody Knight for giving up several hours last Saturday to take all of the coins to the bank to be counted.

We are working on planning the actual day of service itself now, so watch Star News for updates on ways to get involved as the day gets closer. We are hoping that we will have just as much participation in this project on the day of service as we had throughout the coin drive. Thanks again and job well done to everyone!
