FROM THE PTO DESK...

Phew!  February was fast, furious and full of activity!  Thank you so much to the many volunteers who made our events a success, including BINGO Night, K-2 Reading Night, the Third Grade Book Celebration and the Fifth Grade Oldies Dance.  Be sure to upload any pictures that you have, ASAP, on the PTO web page.  The last day to upload yearbook pictures is this Tuesday, March 1st.

With half days, conferences and Spring Break this month, we are all already busy, but there are a few special events going on at UE:

Sunday, March 13th, is the Fourth Grade Skating Party.  This is a great opportunity to socialize with other fourth graders in the district.

We will also celebrating International Happiness Day (March 20th) all month long.  Throughout the month, students will be exploring "What is Happiness?".  Mrs. Toner is using this theme, in conjunction with her classroom lessons, and planned school-wide projects, including the creation of a "happiness quilt" that will be displayed in the cafeteria.  Look for other activities surrounding the "Community Happiness Project" throughout Kennett Square, including restaurant and store specials, all month long, and culminating the weekend of March 18th.  How can your family help spread happiness here at UE?

Talent show rehearsals will be March 30th and 31st, so Spring Break is a great time to begin practicing! The show is scheduled for April 1st.

Our next PTO meeting is Friday, March 18th.  We hope to see you there!

Meg Cromer, UEPTO CO-President

SAVE THE DATE

In place of the fashion show this year, UE is having our very first DESIGNER BAG BINGO NIGHT!

Join us, on April 8, at Northbrook Orchard, from 6-9 pm.  We will have shopping, live music, food and drinks.  Each round of BINGO, one winner will go home with a designer handbag.

We do need help with this event to get it up and running!!!!!  Please contact Megan Cromer, megcromer@hotmail.com, if you are interested in helping in any way.

More details and ticket information to come in the near future.  There are many opportunities to get involved, and we cannot do it without help, so please consider volunteering to make this new event a success. It should be a fun night. (Must be 18 or older to attend.)

THANK YOU...

  • Thank you everyone for attending PTO meeting this past Friday. We welcomed Dr. Lafferty, voted on the new board for 2016-2017 school year, and approved enrichment requests and enjoyed a brief description of Art in Action by MRS. McQuillin. Megan Cromer shared information about the "Happiness Project" since March is Happiness month.  Plus, students enjoyed a wonderful assembly this week about paying forward and being kind to others. Did I mention SHREK the Musical? UE students saw a preview this week, what a treat!
  • Thank you to our 5th grade teachers, they did a wonderful job organizing 5th grade oldies dance. Congratulations to – Riley Angstadt, Delaney Harlan & Nina McKenna, for winning the Lip-sync contest and representing UE by singing " Nine to Five"; Amazing work!
  • Thank you Becky Bondi and Rose Peters for your hard work. on the UE Yearbook.

Michelle Reichert UEPTO CO-President

URA SOFTBALL REGISTRATION

It is time to start thinking about Spring Softball!  We are very excited about the 2016 season as we are making some improvements to our 2015 program.Perhaps the biggest change will be to our age divisions.  We have added an age group and we will now follow the standard age groups used in most softball programs.  So we will have PeeWees, 8U, 10U, 12U and 16U programs.  This change will ensure that players have the best ability to grow and play at their skill level. We are also excited to have a 16U team that will be led by Mark Royer.  We are finalizing plans now that will ensure that our 16U girls will have a full season of games with other programs in the area. Another change will be in our 10U and 12U schedules.  We are completing plans that will give the girls to play a much more exciting season.  The girls will have the opportunity to play more teams with a few games with some local teams.  This means that there will be a few (up to 3) "away" games, however the travel is kept to a minimum and is within 15 miles. We know that one of the attractions of our program is the local nature of practice and games.  By adding up to 3 away games we are giving the girls a much better program because they will get the ability to play a much wider range of teams.  The away games will be in the West Chester area.  I know girls are going to be very excited!

To encourage you to register now we are offering a $20 discount for registrations completed by January 31st.  The discount will appear on the check-out page.

Please register now by CLICKING HERE.
