Order Yearbooks by March 10

Yearbook order forms will be going home with students this week and can be downloaded here. Please send in completed forms with cash or check payable to UEPTO in an envelope marked "Yearbook" by March 10.

4th Grade Ice Skating Party

Attention parents of 4th graders, the UCFSD 4th Grade Skating Party will take place on March 12 from 4:00-6:00 at Ice Line in West Chester. This is a great event that brings together all 4th graders from the District for their first time, so join us if you can.

Please Donate Age-appropriate Magazines

Please donate age-appropriate magazines (i.e., Highlights, Youth Sports Illustrated, National Geographic Jr., Home and Garden, Home Improvement, etc.). We can use as many as you are willing to donate. Deadline: March 17. Please place magazines in bins labeled "Leave Behind Magazines" in the lobby and at the pickup entrance of the school. Thank you in advance for your help!


Parents of 3rd Graders: Book Celebration March 10

The 3rd Grade Book Celebration will take place at UE on Friday, March 10 - beginning promptly after school at 3:30 p.m. and ending at 5:30 p.m.

This year, during the month of February, students will read Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl in class with their teachers. The Book Celebration on March 10 (for 3rd graders only) will include crafts, games, food and other fun activities all related to the book, plus a special guest who will read the conclusion of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

All 3rd grade students participating will need a note to stay after school that day. There is a $10 participation fee which is used to purchase crafts, games, decorations, snacks and the giveaway for all participants. Permission slips and participation fees were due by February 17, so please send them in ASAP if you have not. If you have lost the permission slip sent home, please find one here

We still need parent volunteers to be group leaders, help at craft/game stations, decorate beforehand and clean up afterward. Please click on link below to sign up to volunteer at this fun, 3rd grade only event.

Art in Action: Volunteers Needed (New Dates!)


Unionville Elementary Art in Action is a parent-run program in coordination with UE's art teacher, Mrs. McQuillin, that integrates art appreciation and school beautification projects each year. This year we are excited to be exploring the theme of Impressionism and the Effects of Light, focusing on such artists as Monet, Renoir, Degas, and Seurat. This is a wonderful program offering an opportunity for parents to spend time with classes in the art room discussing famous artwork.

The Art in Action program will take place this year from Wednesday, March 1 until Wednesday, March 8. Please see the Sign-Up Genius link below to sign up for specific time slots. No art or art history experience is required. Volunteers may sign up for more than one class. Mrs. McQuillin will meet with all volunteers on Tuesday, February 21 after school at 3:30 p.m. in the Art Room to provide additional support and review all materials. Talent Show Coming Up - Coordinators in Training Needed

This year's Talent Show for 4th and 5th graders will take place Friday, March 31st. Practices will take place Tuesday 3/28, Wednesday 3/29 and Thursday 3/30. Look for more details in early March.

Tara and Kristen will be retiring from managing the Talent Show after this year and are looking for someone to train this March! After many years of fun, fun, fun, we need some fun parents to take the helm! The Great Kindness Challenge

From Wednesday, February 15 to Wednesday, February 22, UES students will be taking part in the Great Kindness Challenge. Over the week, students will be given a list of kind acts and they will see how many they can accomplish. Please help us celebrate kindness over this week!

Girls on the Run Still Needs One Coach

Attention Parents Interested in STEM: Maker Space

Mrs. Langdon needs help planning for UES' Maker Space - a space where students can create, explore & discover using a variety of materials. If you would like to serve on the Maker Space Committee, please email her at rlangdon@ucfsd.net. Whether you can only communicate through email or have time to meet during/after school, she could use your ideas. We will be working on a mission and goals, determining materials needed, designing the room and developing fundraising ideas.


Science Explorers After-School Science Club at Unionville Elementary for Grades 1-5

The next club of the school year begins soon! Science Club will meet on Mondays & Thursdays in Room 150 at Unionville Elementary after school from 3:30-4:30 and is available to students in grades 1-5. The Monday club will start on 3/20/17
The Thursday club will start on 3/9/17The next club topic is 3-2-1 BLAST OFF!: 

Blast off to an out of this world adventure! Reach for the stars as you investigate space and the final frontier. Launch a superfast film canister rocket, construct a telescope, and take on an astronaut challenge. See what exciting and explosive adventures await as you soar towards fun! 

The last topic for the school year will be Super Duper Product Sleuthers.

Unionville High School Used Book Sale Needs More Used Book Donations!

The 21st Annual UHS Used Booksale will take place February 24, and we are still in need of more book donations to make the sale a success! The used
booksale is the high schools biggest fundraiser. We are hoping we can get the community support and that you can pack up a box or two of books you are ready to get rid of and put them in the donation bin in the Middle School lobby! Thank you in advance for your support.
