Teacher Appreciation Week: Luncheon Donations Needed and Fun Ideas for the Week!

Hello parents, this week (May 1-5) is Teacher Appreciation Week, so let's show our amazing teachers some love!

Friday May 5th is Teacher Appreciation Lunch -- and we still need food donations. It's time for a fiesta! Please help donate food items to our annual teacher appreciation luncheon this Friday! To celebrate Cinco de Mayo and a wonderful school year, the PTO will be hosting a fiesta complete with a taco bar and piñata. Your help is greatly appreciated.

Signup Genius for luncheon donations:
We also have some fun ideas we encourage you and your children to take part in this week (all optional of course):

Monday, Words of the Heart Day - Make cards, notes, pictures or fun stories.

Tuesday, Love From the Oven Day  - Bake a sweet fun treat for your teacher.

Wednesday, Specialty Surprise Day - Make something creative, or e-mail your teacher and see what they need in the classroom to finish out the year and get them an item on their list.

Thursday, Book Dedication - Dedicate a book to your teacher.

Friday, Favorite Things Day - Surprise your teacher with one of their favorite things or fill out this fun sheet and send it in.

UE STEM Day, May 25 - Please Send in Materials by May 11

Please support UE's first-ever STEM (science, technology, engineeering and math) day! This year at UE, classes will be creating group projects to display during Spring Open House. Classes are in need of some supplies to make these projects a success. Please sign up and send in materials by May 11 to help bring this STEM project to fruition.

UES Spring Family Portraits Fundraiser

We have once again teamed up with photographer, Jordan Hayman, to offer family portraits to benefit the UE PTO. Portraits now will be taken on May 21st only.  For $150 (retail value $250), families will get a 30 minute photography session, with multiple poses, and a $30 print/digital download credit. UE PTO will receive a portion of each sitting fee. Perfect timing for First Communion, Graduation and Mother's Day portraits.

We will also offer a deluxe package for the spring! For $350, Jordan will meet your family at Longwood Gardens for a 90 minute session, with multiple poses and locations, and a $100 print/digital download credit. You will be responsible for your gardens admission, and have the flexibility to choose a date and time that works for you. Mention UE PTO for this special offer, and to have a portion of your sitting fee go to the UE PTO.

The exact location has not yet been determined, but will be in the Kennett/Unionville area. We will let you know ASAP, but we have a few spectacular places in mind.

UE Birthday Book Club

You're invited to join the Unionville Elementary School Birthday Book Club (BBC)!

It's an opportunity for your child to celebrate his or her big day by giving a gift of reading to our school and to support our library by adding a book chosen from a carefully selected book list.

You can also donate a book to the BBC in honor of another child's birthday (instead of buying a gift, gift a book in their honor!), or for other special occasions in your child's life. It is the gift that keeps on giving for many years! Please e-mail Mrs. Langdon for any book-related questions and e-mail Sunanda for any club-specific question.
