Message from the PTO President

Well, we have almost made it and are in the home stretch! Springtime is a very busy time in the schools, so don't give up on us yet -- we still need your help for a few things!

Last week, we started May off with a bang by setting up an extensive coffee bar for the teachers. They were greatly appreciative, and the caffeinated beverages were restocked multiple times. We know the way to their heart. Thank you for all of your tokens of appreciation throughout the week. The grand finale of Teacher Appreciation Week was a lunchtime fiesta. A huge thank-you to those who contributed to the lunch. It was something fun and different, and the staff raved about it. Well done!

A few things to make note of for the remainder of the month are listed below.  Volunteers may be needed, so please keep the momentum going for a few more weeks!

  • May 15: School Toolboxes for the 2017/18 school year sale begins
  • May 19: Final PTO meeting; we will vote in the 2017/18 Board Members
  • May 21: Family Portrait Fundraiser  (see sign-up below)
  • May 24-26: Book Fair (sign-up available soon)
  • May 25: Open House/STEM Day in May (materials needed by May 11)
  • May 31: Mini Relay

Thank you again for all of your help this year!  As always, your time and talents are always appreciated.

UES Spring Family Portraits Fundraiser

We have once again teamed up with photographer, Jordan Hayman, to offer family portraits to benefit the UE PTO. Portraits now will be taken on May 21st only.  For $150 (retail value $250), families will get a 30 minute photography session, with multiple poses, and a $30 print/digital download credit. UE PTO will receive a portion of each sitting fee. Perfect timing for First Communion, Graduation and Mother's Day portraits.

We will also offer a deluxe package for the spring! For $350, Jordan will meet your family at Longwood Gardens for a 90 minute session, with multiple poses and locations, and a $100 print/digital download credit. You will be responsible for your gardens admission, and have the flexibility to choose a date and time that works for you. Mention UE PTO for this special offer, and to have a portion of your sitting fee go to the UE PTO.

The exact location has not yet been determined, but will be in the Kennett/Unionville area. We will let you know ASAP, but we have a few spectacular places in mind.

UE Birthday Book Club

You're invited to join the Unionville Elementary School Birthday Book Club (BBC)!

It's an opportunity for your child to celebrate his or her big day by giving a gift of reading to our school and to support our library by adding a book chosen from a carefully selected book list.

You can also donate a book to the BBC in honor of another child's birthday (instead of buying a gift, gift a book in their honor!), or for other special occasions in your child's life. It is the gift that keeps on giving for many years! Please e-mail Mrs. Langdon for any book-related questions and e-mail Sunanda for any club-specific question.
