UE will celebrate Veterans Day on Friday, November 10th from 9:30-10:30 a.m. As is tradition, we will have a ceremony in the Auditorium honoring not only family members, but all who have served or are currently serving in the Armed Forces. A reception and luncheon will also be a part of the program. In addition, veteran family members or friends of students in Kindergarten, Pre-first, First and Second grades are invited to visit the classroom. Please see the flyer that came home in backpacks last week for more details and form. If you have not signed up to participate in our School Store fundraiser, please do as soon as possible. The program runs all year long, and holiday shopping is the easiest way for us to raise money for the PTO at no expense to you!!! So far we have brought in over $1000 cash for the PTO, and over $11,000 in gift cards for the teachers to use for classroom supplies and resources.
Gift cards are delivered to the school monthly. A change this year, is that gift cards will be given directly to the child's assigned homeroom teacher, unless otherwise requested. If you would like your gift cards sent home so that you can choose the teacher to receive it (special areas/special education teacher/classroom aides/Dr. Lafferty/support staff) or use it for a holiday gift, please email Megan Cromer (email@example.com) ASAP, and she will send them home with your child when the gift card arrives.

A big Thank You, from the book fair Co-Chairs to all who volunteered, purchased books, and visited the book fair. The 2017 fall "Wild West" Fair was a huge success!! Over $700.00 worth of books were gifted to our teachers, students, and the library. The Book Fair also raised a little over $2,200.00 donated to the PTO for use in many programs they support. We would not be successful without all the help from the many volunteers. Thanks again for all the support; this was a super fun fair!
Sincerely, Linda Brown Delfina Castro Becky D'Antonio
UE Spiritwear Chair Position
UE Spirit Wear Chair Position is open for next year!! Let us know if your interested! This fundraising position is simple. Pick out clothing and accessories through the vendor, set sale dates, communicate with PTO president, and follow up on any communication with the vendor. Super easy and fun.
We will be having a spring spirit wear sale so we have plenty of time to meet and train the new chair. It's a great way to be involved with our PTO even if you can't make the meetings or go into school on a regular basis.
Please contact Amy Iwasyk -firstname.lastname@example.org, if you are interested in taking over this spot.
Art in Action
Unionville Elementary Art in Action is a parent-run program in coordination with UE’s art teacher, Mrs. McQuillin, that integrates art appreciation and school beautification projects each year. This year we are excited to be exploring the theme of Color and Shape, focusing on such artists as Matisse, Klee, Kandinsky, and Picasso. We are creating a wonderful installation piece that will hang outside the main office in the front hallway. This is a wonderful program offering an opportunity for parents to spend time with classes in the art room helping students create artwork. The Art in Action program will take place this year from Wednesday, November 1st until Monday, November 9th. No art experience is required. Also, this year we are only asking parent volunteers to help the students in making the artwork. There is no longer a parent-run art history piece of this program. Volunteers may sign up for more than one class. Volunteers will need appropriate clearances. Once the artwork is completed, volunteers will be needed to help cut out handprints from 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade. We will also need some help installing the artwork in the hallway. Sign ups for this additional help will be created at a later date. Thank you. If you have any questions, contact Sharon Buck email@example.com.
Don’t forget to order cool gifts for that special family member or hard-to-buy-for person. With over 40 unique and useful keepsakes ready to purchase during the Square 1 Art fundraiser, your child's artwork is the perfect gift for any occasion or celebration. Nothing says “you’re loved” like “I made this art keepsake just for you!”
It’s the final days of the fundraiser, so don’t delay. The school benefits with every order!
