Just like that, we are in November!!! Time to start gearing up for the busy season!! As we remind ourselves to try and slow down and enjoy the season, many of us have long to-do lists and wear many hats. The PTO knows how hectic this time of year can be and we just want to THANK YOU for all of the help and support from our many volunteers.
We would like to thank our Committee Chairs this past month: Linda Brown, Delfina Castro, and Becky D’Antonio - Book Fair, Kate Tomasco - Breakfast with a Buddy, Mallory Ciliberti - Square One Art, Amy Iwask - Sports Wear, and Mrs. Oldenski and Karen Miller - Veterans Day Celebration. All of these events are UE traditions and we couldn’t do them without your help.
The MLK Team has counted the coins from the coin drive. Thank you, Jackie Knight!. Amazingly, UE raised $3,185.97 for our MLK celebration. WOW! UES PROUD!
Our School Store fundraiser has reported over $10,000 in gift cards purchased for our teachers. Thank you, Meg Cromer, for organizing this fundraiser.
Next month, we have a few fun things planned for our students. The Elves’ Craft Workshop will be on Thursday, December 7th and The Penguin Patch Holiday Shop will be opened Thursday, December 7th, Friday, December 8th, and Saturday, December 9th. Both events will be a special way for UE students to get into the holiday spirit. Volunteers are needed. Even a hour of your time is greatly appreciated.
This Friday, November 17th, we have a PTO Meeting at 9:30am in the SGI. All are encouraged to attend.
Mark your calendars for UE’s Christmas concerts. The K-3 concerts will be held on Wednesday, December 13th, at 9:30am and 1:45pm. The 4/5 concert will be held on Tuesday, December 19th, at 1:15pm.
As we head into the Holiday Season, remember to take some time to make memories and enjoy your loved ones. Also, be sure to bundle up out there and stay warm as the chilly season arrives!
Sincerely, UES PTO
There will be a PTO Meeting held this Friday, November 17th at 9:30am in the SGI. All are welcome and encouraged to attend!
UES STEM Club
UES will be hosting it's first STEM Club session on Wednesdays after school from November 29th until December 20th. This club is open to all 4th and 5th grade students. The first session will be all about drones, including drone safety, real-world applications for drones, coding with drones, and drone challenges. The cost for the club is $55 per student. For more information and registration, please see the links below.
If you have not signed up to participate in our School Store fundraiser, please do as soon as possible. The program runs all year long, and holiday shopping is the easiest way for us to raise money for the PTO at no expense to you!!! So far we have brought in over $1000 cash for the PTO, and over $11,000 in gift cards for the teachers to use for classroom supplies and resources.
Gift cards are delivered to the school monthly. A change this year, is that gift cards will be given directly to the child's assigned homeroom teacher, unless otherwise requested. If you would like your gift cards sent home so that you can choose the teacher to receive it (special areas/special education teacher/classroom aides/Dr. Lafferty/support staff) or use it for a holiday gift, please email Megan Cromer (firstname.lastname@example.org) ASAP, and she will send them home with your child when the gift card arrives.
Art in Action Thank You
Just wanted to send out a big "Thank You" to all the parents who helped Mrs. McQuillin with the Art in Action art classes. The students' creativity definitely shined and the projects look amazing! The school-wide mural is going to really make a statement in the front hallway! Thanks again for volunteering and supporting UE art!
Elves' Craft Workshop
Believe it or not, the holiday season is fast approaching! UE will be hosting its annual Elves' Craft Workshop on Thursday, December 7th from 3:45pm to 4:45pm. At this event, the children have fun making crafts to bring home, give as gifts, or simply show off during the holidays!
The cost for this event is $5 per child. All children attending the event will need to send in a Note to School indicating reason for staying after school, as well as, method of pick-up.
The workshop this year will consist of 4 stations that each child will rotate through: 2 craft stations, 1 puppy pals station, and 1 cardmaking station.
Flyers about this event will be going home with students this week. You can also see the flyer below for more details. Form and payment is due by Tuesday, November 21st.
The Penguin Patch Holiday shop will be open for shopping for all students and parents during and after the Elves' Craft Workshop on Thursday, December 7th, and also before and after school on Friday, December 8th, as well as on Saturday, December 9th from 10am to 12pm. This shop is a fun way for children to purchase small gifts for family and friends for the holidays. We are currently looking for a chair for this event. It is a fun and easy job. Penguin Patch is a no-risk program; we only pay for what we sell. No payments are due until after the sale is finished. There is no counting inventory. Materials have already shipped to UE and all information about the shop is included. If you are interested in being the Penguin Patch chair and helping out, please contact Kristen Young email@example.com.
