Hopefully everyone had a wonderful Holiday and New Year and let’s not forget all these SNOW DAYS…
The PTO has some very important events this month, beginning with the MLK Day of Service on Monday, 1/15/2018. As you may know, our district considers MLK Day a day of service, not a day off. All district schools run a project that day. You may participate in any that are of interest to you and your family. At UE, we will be making blankets for patients at Nemours/AI duPont Hospital for Children funded by our coin drive earlier this year. This is an amazing event for all our UE Families.
Please note that we will continue our indirect donation programs of School Store, Amazon Smile, Giant Bonus Card, and BoxTops until the end of the school year. We would appreciate your continued support with these programs that cost you nothing, but provide a significant amount of income for our school.
Our Next PTO meeting will be held on Friday 1/20/2018. As always, we are looking forward to seeing you.
Thank you as always for your time and commitment.
Yearbook Chair Needed for 2018-2019 School Year
Do you enjoy taking photos and creating memories? Do you like to scrapbook or create photo books? Then you might be interested in being the Chair for the UE Yearbook next year. This position is a great way to get to know everyone in the UE community. Lifetouch is the publisher we use and their online tools are easy to use and understand. Additionally, they provide support and training if needed.
If you think you would like to take on this fun, rewarding endeavor, please contact Sharon Buck. Sharon was the Yearbook Chair this year and she will be able to help make the transition for the new Chair an easy one.

iGen Book discussion & Author Visit
The UCFSD Wellness Committee is working to create awareness and conversation around the topic of the "iGen" generation. With social media and texting replacing other activities, iGen spends less time with their friends in person—perhaps why they are experiencing unprecedented levels of anxiety, depression, and loneliness. A highly readable and entertaining first look at how today’s members of iGen—the children, teens, and young adults born in the mid-1990s and later—are vastly different from their Millennial predecessors, and from any other generation, from the renowned psychologist and author of Generation Me. Learn more about Dr Twenge and iGen here. Copies of the book can be found on Amazon. SAVE THE DATE - Dr. Twenge will be visiting UCFSD April 12-13, 2018.

School Store Fundraiser
If you have not signed up to participate in our School Store fundraiser, please do as soon as possible. The program runs all year long, and holiday shopping is the easiest way for us to raise money for the PTO at no expense to you!!! So far we have brought in over $1000 cash for the PTO, and over $11,000 in gift cards for the teachers to use for classroom supplies and resources.
Gift cards are delivered to the school monthly. A change this year, is that gift cards will be given directly to the child's assigned homeroom teacher, unless otherwise requested. If you would like your gift cards sent home so that you can choose the teacher to receive it (special areas/special education teacher/classroom aides/Dr. Lafferty/support staff) or use it for a holiday gift, please email Megan Cromer (email@example.com) ASAP, and she will send them home with your child when the gift card arrives.
